The Inaugural 2007 Reno-Tahoe Young Professionals Network Leadership Summit brings together 300-500 Greater Reno-Tahoe business professionals to educate and inform them on the best ways to GIVE back to the community, GROW their entrepreneurial businesses or careers and ATTRACT and retain a young, skilled workforce.
The event kicks off with special guest speaker Rebecca Ryan, Founder of Next Generation Consulting. Rebecca is back to check in with us after her visit nearly two years ago at Directions 2006 when she encouraged the community to start a young professionals network. She’ll share success stories of what happens in communities who have built vibrant YP groups and the positive impact they have on members and the entire community.
Following the keynote, attendees will have the choice of attending one of three diverse breakout sessions especially created to share how to get involved in the community and GIVE back, GROW professionally, and ATTRACT and keep young, skilled workers in the region.
And you won’t want to miss Reno Gazette-Journal's "20 under 40" Awards program followed by a celebratory cocktail reception at Grand Sierra Resort’s newest club, All City Live.

You Launched It – Now What?
Keynote Speaker: Rebecca Ryan, Founder, Next Generation Consulting (bio, pdf)
Rebecca Ryan will kick things off at 1 PM with a call to action for the newly organized Young Professionals organization. Coming to Reno fresh from the 2007 International YP Summit, Ryan will share best practices from YPOs across the globe, and help RTYPN see what's possible when a few energetic and entrepreneurial YP's decide to kick it up a notch in their communities.
Attendees may select from one of the following:
GIVE: How young professionals can become actively involved in community giving.
Guest Speakers: Representatives from the Food Bank of Northern Nevada, The Solace Tree, Nevada EcoNet, and ProjectGo
This session seeks to transcend the typical young professionals volunteer experience by engaging both area non-profits (NPs) and potential volunteers from the Young Professionals Network (YPNers) in a meaningful experience of volunteerism. Brought to the table will be non-profits facing identifiable challenges in a selected area (volunteer recruitment, marketing, finance, etc.) and potential volunteers seeking to learn more about area non-profit groups and how they can provide high-level contributions commensurate with their professional skills and experiences.
Room: S2
GROW: A Seminar for Professional Development and Entrepreneurship
Guest Speakers: Hal Lenox, President, AT&T Nevada; Jean Venneman, Senior Vice President of Product Development, IGT; Bryan Landaburu, Founder/President of Fuze; Claude Sapp, Founder of Infinifuel Biodiesel
What resources exist for young professionals in Greater Reno-Tahoe? Whether growing your career or your entrepreneurial business, this session will provide practical information from those who have been through it.
Room: S3
ATTRACT: How do we attract and keep our young professionals in Greater Reno Tahoe?
Guest Speaker: Lorna Shepard, Principal, Red Dog Consulting
This interactive session features a discussion of how YPN members can help this region address the critical challenge of keeping and growing our base of 20 and 30 somethings. This session will reveal the most comprehensive research ever done on what people outside of Reno-Tahoe think of the place we call home and their criteria for choosing a place to live and work. This will help frame the competitive issues we are facing and what we need to address to foster a young professional haven in the region and compete with other markets in the future.
Room: S1
